Pumpkin Festival

I have been very busy with editing lately and am down to 21 sessions to go!  I am hoping to get as many of them finished today because I have a shoot tomorrow and Friday, then the mini sessions on Saturday and Sunday.
I don't consider what I do work, because it is something I love to do.  I love knowing that my photos will be displayed and cherished forever.  It is the best pay anyone could ever recieve

The mini sessions at Reegers have been a complete success! Lots of big beautiful smiles and beautiful weather.  It was in the high 80's this weekend so most of my clients had quick changes to prevent becoming overheated.  Looking at the photos you would never know

Another day of nasty weather overcome!

Who would know that it was a 38 degree windchill, overcast, and rainy today?  Not my clients.  The photos turned out great at the farm.

I left the farm to go to the next clients for some photos and we did them in the barn.  The kids were super fun and the pics all turned great.  I had a bunch of wonderful models to work with.

I absolutely love doing what I do.  I love seeing the smiles on my clients faces.  I love knowing that my photo will be with them a lifetime.  It is an absolutely joyous feeling.

Fall is upon us

The weather was absolutely horrible today. It was freezing cold and pouring down rain. I did get out to the farm to scope out a spot to set up for the mini sessions and I also snapped a few pics while I was there.

I love overcast skies because they make for the best natural lighting. Just wish the weather was warmer and there would have been no rain.

Anyway Enjoy these shots and hope to see you there

Winner of the cutest costume contest is Gage with 137 votes.
In second place was Jacob with 123 votes and third place goes to Trenton with 102 votes.
Congratulations! Every one that entered had awesome costumes

Announcing the Bridal Show Winners

I want to start off by saying that it was super fun meeting all the future bride and grooms.  I was doing a giveaway for everyone that stopped by my table.  I would pick two winners to receive 50.00 gift certificates.

The winners have been chosen....

Drum Roll Please.................

CONGRATULATIONS

Sarah Hosterman and Randi Ross!

Love is in the air

I will be at the Holiday Inn in Indiana, Pa on Sunday September 11th from 1-4 p.m.  I hope to see all future brides, bridesmaids, mothers, sisters, grandmothers of the bride then.  I will be doing a giveaway for a gift certificate.  Offering discounts on events booked that day.  As most of you know I already offer a free engagement session on all bridal events booked with me so the extra discount is an added bonus.  I am not one to do over the top things.  I prefer simple, timeless, elegant, and even classic.  I prefer to have my work speak for itself rather than try to wow you with all the snazzy stuff.  I hope everyone takes the time to browse all the vendors and go with the one who's work speaks to you rather than all the smoke and mirrors.

Baby Blues

Yesterday I had a wonderful shoot with two beautiful baby boys.  It is a lot of fun watching them hide from the camera and when they do sneak a peek it seems those shots tend to be the very best.  They are very real and not posed, which is what I aim for in my photos.  I wanted to take a break from editing/cropping to share one of those shots from yesterdays shoot.

I love how this captures the bond these two little boys share.

You get what you pay for.

I have noticed lately that the photo industry in this area is over saturated.  The sad thing is that most of them are not licensed businesses.  I know that it shouldn't matter to me, BUT if you go through the process of actually starting a business and you pay all the fees that go along with it you would understand.  I have to file 4 seperate taxes every quarter.  These are also the ones that are getting a majority of the clients because they have absolutely no overhead cost.  Their camera is paid for, the pay no rent for a studio, and they don't have any real equipment or props because they shoot on location.   Again this is fine, but it hurts those of us that have to charge more for our overhead.

It also seems that photography has taken a turn for the worse.  I want to look at a photo and see exactly what the photographer sees and feel exactly what the photographer feels.  I want to find the beauty in simple things.  I have seen far too many photos with absolutely no emotional connection, and clients with tree branches coming out of their heads, and so on.  I in no way claim to be perfect, but if you are going to do this at least know what an F stop, iso, aperature,  flash composition and exposure composition are.  Auto focus is great, BUT you can unlock so much more potential  if you do it manually.  I in no way am meaning to offend those that use auto focus because when you are in a rush at home sometimes it's easier, but when it's a wedding or a major event for a client please keep in mind that your not just snapping a photo, but creating a life long memory.

Anyway I am rambling a bit,  but these things tend to bother me
